Abdullah Commends Work Done By PEMUDAH

BERNAMA, 29 February, 2008.

PUTRAJAYA, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today commended the achievements made by the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (PEMUDAH), a body which was established to enhance the public delivery system in Malaysia.

The Prime Minister said that the major processes for setting up businesses have been made easy by Pemudah right from the issuance of permits for skilled workers to approvals for the machinery.

The Pemudah team of workers in fact truly symbolise the success of a private-public sector partnership that has been formed for the betterment of the country, he said in his remarks in the 2007 Pemudah Annual Report which was launched by the Chief Secretary of the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, here today.

Pemudah, a public-private sector initiative, was formed in February last year to tackle issues that were not conducive for the development of business and hindered competitiveness in Malaysia.

Since their formation, the members of Pemudah have worked together, bringing their respective experiences to achieve the joint mission of raising the productivity of the country via better and efficient delivery system.

Among others, it has successfully reduced the time taken for issuing business permits as well as other related approvals.

Its achievements last year clearly reflect the potential benefits from such a partnership, Abdullah said.
