Processing of Work Passes for Expatriates Expedited by Immigration Department
   
To expedite processing of applications and approval of work passes for expatriates as well as to increase transparency and avoid
confusion to the private sector and investors, the Immigration Department has taken the following steps:
   
i.
Beginning 1 June 2007, the Expatriate Committee (JKPD) will process all applications for the posts within 7 days and will be having
2 meetings weekly to expedite the approval. The approval period for the posts has been increased from 2 to 5 years (2+2+1);
 
ii.
Shorten the time taken to endorse related work passes for expatriates to 3 days;
 
iii.
Executive Counters have been created for all executive level personnel and these counters have been extended to state offices;
 
iv.
Provide checklist and application forms (DP10 and DP11) for employment of expatriates at all state offices as well as online;
 
v.
Extending Professional Visit Pass validity from 3 months to 6 months;and
 
vi.
Monitor and report the Immigration Department’s approval process to PEMUDAH.
