Technical Working Group (TWG) on Utility Services typically comprises a pool of experts from both public and private who collaborate to tackle various aspects of utility connections namely electricity, water, and internet. It aligns with the BEE project scope which focuses on firms’ connections to utilities and subsequent service supply from either public or private utilities.

The experts work towards improving the effectiveness of regulatory frameworks, good governance, transparency and efficiency of utility services are pivotal elements of a good business environment. An effective regulatory framework is critical for the provision of high-quality utility services. Furthermore, the reliability and sustainability of utility services should be maintained through monitoring the quality of service supply and connection safety, fostering public accountability and safety.

Overall, the TWG Utility Services together with the stakeholders concerned particularly the regulators plays a vital role in designing policies that can measure the effectiveness of regulatory frameworks, the quality of governance and transparency of service delivery mechanisms, as well as the efficiency of providing electricity, water, and internet services.

Improvement Projects

  • New SOP Document Developed by TNB and Intel Malaysia for Power Quality Assessment Initiative

    To improve the quality and stability of the country's power supply as it is an important requirement to attract high-tech manufacturing facilities.

  • Power quality initiatives undertaken by TNB and Intel Malaysia to mitigate the voltage sag issue

    TNB and Intel conducted a study to improve power quality performance in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia which focussed on key improvements to the power grid and the distribution infrastructure.
